Uncontested Divorce Attorneys in St. Petersburg, FL

What Is an Uncontested Divorce?

As the name suggests, uncontested divorces do not involve disputes about aspects of the divorce, from property division to child custody and support. Instead, couples agree on how to settle these matters, allowing them to go through a streamlined divorce process.

While uncontested divorces are much simpler and less stressful, they can be challenging to navigate—especially without an attorney. At Plotnick Law Offices, we are here to deliver the guidance you need. Our lawyers routinely help clients deal with the stressful aspects of divorces, from paperwork to court filings, so they can focus on their families, work responsibilities, and more.

Simplified vs. Regular Dissolution of Marriage

You have two options for an uncontested divorce: simplified and regular dissolution of marriage. The fastest divorce option, simplified dissolution of marriage, is available to those who do not have minor children and are not seeking alimony. It can be completed in as little as three weeks.

A regular dissolution of marriage is available to all others who meet the eligibility requirements detailed above. It is still relatively quicker than divorces that involve multiple disputes.

Do You Have to Go to Court for an Uncontested Divorce?

Yes, you must schedule and appear at a court hearing to finalize your divorce. At this meeting, the judge will review your divorce papers and check that you have met the residency requirement. After doing so, the judge can finalize your divorce. Generally, these hearings are short.
